SPACE: The ring nebula is a planetary nebula in the constellation Lyra, approximately 4,100 light-years from Earth. Planetary nebulas form around stars that expelled their outer layers during the transition from red giant to white dwarf late in their lifetimes.
My chem analystical instructor showed us this in class. Very cute.
